Most gate motors come with built in locking however often this is limited by the length of the gate. Gate motors are particularly strong in this regard but we will still recommend locking devices for high security sites. There are 4 main types of lock, electric driven bolt, the latch lock, hook lock and magnetic lock. Each has strengths and weaknesses which we will explore in this section.
These are particularly useful for timber gates that are prone to expansion or large gates that have a tendency to move, due to leaf length and flexibility. They are rated with a 1200lb holding force and are often used in fail-safe situations.
Cisa Hook Lock
Powered hook lock – A high security version of the latch lock, with the rotating catch hooking onto a peg for additional strength. These bolts are rated with a 2000kg holding force, and are provided with external and internal releases as standard. (12v supply taken directly from control panel).
Viro Latch Lock
Powered latch lock – These are widely used within the industry to secure an electric gate, by the action of a rotating beak. Latch locks are available with optional internal or external cylinders (12v supply taken directly from control panel).
Electric Driven Drop Bolt
Powered driven bolt – These are the most secure type of locking for a gate system. The gate is locked into place with a 20mm diameter stainless steel pin which has a throw of 115mm. The drop bolt then locks the gate into its closed position. (24v seperate power supply is needed to power the drop bolt).
